Take route 28 north and west from the junction with Route 30 near the Pepacton Reservoir. Continue on Route 28 until the New Kingston Dunraven Road goes off to the right. Turn right and follow this road to New Kingston. Turn right on Thompson Hollow Road and stay on it when New Kingston Mountain Road goes to the right at a fork. Thompson Hollow Road will end at Harold Roberts Road. Turn left and watch for the parking area on the right. Park in the small, unused lot. Find the woods road that heads east through a gate and winds up the mountain. The switchbacks make this feel like the long way around but it is easier than bushwhacking the entire distance. After about 1.5 miles head east or southeast and UP the mountain wherever you can climb the steep bank. The summit is a walk of about .2 miles through almost open woods. Follow the same route back to the car. The round trip is a little over 3 miles.
